Why We Built a Candle Brand Around Books
There is a specific kind of silence that only happens when you are deep inside a story. The world outside — notifications, noise, obligations — blurs into something distant and irrelevant. What remains is the page, the warmth of whatever you are sitting near, and the quiet sense that the story is pulling you somewhere important.
That silence is what The Wick'ed Wonders was built around.
Not candles, exactly. Not fragrance, as a category. But that particular experience: the one that only exists when a book is open, a light is flickering, and the world has agreed to wait for a little while.

WHERE THE IDEA STARTED
The literary collections came first. Before the name, before the branding, before any of it made practical sense. I had been thinking about how much of reading is sensory. How a good novel builds not just a world you can see, but one you can almost smell.
Old parchment and sea salt for a story set on a ship at the edge of a known map. Fog and iron for a mystery that takes place in a city that never quite dries out. Something dark and green and alive for a fantasy where the forest has intentions of its own.
Every great narrative carries a sensory world within it. I set out to capture that world, one hand-poured candle at a time.
The four literary collections — Romance, Fantasy, Mystery, and Horror — each represent a distinct emotional world. Not just a genre, but a specific texture of imagination. And each fragrance was built to live inside that world, not just gesture toward it.

MADE BY ONE PAIR OF HANDS
Every candle is made by me, here in Toronto, in small batches from scratch. I blend the ingredients, develop every aroma, and pour each candle with the kind of care that only comes from doing something yourself. Start to finish, no shortcuts, no outsourcing.
This is not a production line with a story attached. It is a studio practice with a product at the end of it. The difference is real, and it shows up in the candle you receive.
Natural ingredients. Soy wax. Every element is chosen with intention. Everything that goes into each candle comes from care, because what something is made of matters as much as what it becomes.

WHAT WE ACTUALLY MAKE
At its most literal, The Wick'ed Wonders makes scented marble candles in jars. But what we are really making is the conditions for that quiet, unhurried moment. Entirely yours. Where the flicker and the fragrance and the story all exist at once.
We make candles for people who take their reading seriously. For people who believe that the atmosphere around a book matters as much as the book itself. For people who have always felt, without quite being able to say it, that the right scent in the room can make a story land differently.
