About our candles
Are your candles really handmade?
Yes, every single one. All candles are made by hand, in small batches, in Toronto, Canada. No mass production, no outsourcing.
What are your candles made of?
Our candles are made with natural and vegan ingredients. All fragrances are 100% natural and developed exclusively in-house. Each scent is original and unique to The Wick'ed Wonders.
How long do your candles burn?
Our 8 oz glass container candles have a burn time of approximately 40 to 50 hours when cared for properly. The 0.8 oz discovery candles included in our kits burn for approximately 4 to 5 hours each, making them a great way to explore different scents before committing to a full size.
Are the fragrances strong or subtle?
Our scents are designed to fill a room without being overwhelming. The intensity will vary slightly depending on the size of your space and how well the candle has been cared for. For the best scent throw, always allow the wax to melt fully to the edges on the first burn.
Collections
What collections do you carry?
We have two types of collections. Our literary collections are permanent and inspired by distinct literary traditions: Romance, Fantasy, Mystery, and Horror. New scents are added to these collections over time. Our seasonal collections, Sunlit Stories (spring and summer) and Ember Chapters (fall and winter), are available for a limited time each year. We also offer Discovery Kits, two curated sets of four 0.8 oz candles, perfect for exploring our world before choosing a favourite.
Will the seasonal collections come back?
Yes. Sunlit Stories returns every spring and Ember Chapters returns every fall. The best way to know when they are back is to subscribe to our newsletter or follow us on social media.
I am not sure which candle to choose. Where do I start?
That is exactly what our Discovery Kits are for. Each kit includes four 0.8 oz candles so you can explore different scents at a smaller commitment. At $20 plus tax, it is the best way to find your favourite before investing in a full size candle.
Candle care
How do I get the best out of my candle?
The first burn is the most important one. Let the wax melt all the way to the edges of the container before extinguishing. This prevents tunnelling and ensures an even burn every time after. We recommend burning for at least 2 hours on the first use.
Do I need to trim the wick?
Yes, and it makes a real difference. Before each burn, trim the wick to about 5 mm. A shorter wick means a cleaner, steadier flame, less soot, and a longer-lasting candle.
My candle is burning unevenly. What do I do?
This usually happens when the candle is burned for too short a time, especially on the first burn. Make sure to allow the wax to reach the edges before putting it out. Avoid burning in drafty areas, as airflow can cause uneven melting.
Orders and shipping
How long does it take to receive my order?
Since every candle is handmade to order, please allow 1 to 3 business days for processing before your order ships. Delivery times vary depending on your location. You will receive a tracking number by email once your order is on its way.
Do you ship to the United States?
Yes. We ship within Canada and to the United States. Shipping rates are calculated at checkout based on your order weight and destination. Please note that any applicable duties or customs fees for US orders are the responsibility of the buyer.
Can I change or cancel my order after placing it?
We begin processing orders quickly, but if you need to make a change, please contact us at contact@thewickedwonders.com as soon as possible. We will do our best to accommodate your request before the order is dispatched.
Returns and refunds
Can I return or exchange a candle if I do not like the scent?
We accept returns and exchanges within 14 days of delivery, provided the candle is unused, unlit, and in its original packaging. If you are unsure about a scent, we recommend starting with one of our Discovery Kits before purchasing a full size candle.
My order arrived damaged. What do I do?
We are sorry to hear that. Please contact us at contact@thewickedwonders.com within 7 days of receiving your order, and include a photo of the item and packaging. We will send a replacement or issue a full refund at no cost to you.
